Steph and I watched the Bastille Day fireworks at the Eiffel tower. They were fantastic -- half an hour of beautiful burning synchronized with music. They also made good use of the strobe lights that cover the tower, seen here illuminated.

Yesterday I was relaxing on one of the pedestrian bridges across the Seine and caught this sunset behind the Grand Palais.

Anyone who's ever had to eat standing up at some shindig will appreciate the utter brilliance of this invention.

Silver Linings and All That

Stumbled across this fashion shoot on the Pont Alexander III. The photographer was all "Hold it! Chin down! Nice! Right there! Hold it!" just like in the movies. I resisted the urge to make faces at the model.

Perhaps you've wondered what the flowers of the Venus' Flytrap look like. Wonder no more. Note also how they're perched on a long stem high above the plant, so that pollenating insects survive the visit.
